Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Sept. 19th

On Wednesday, Cramer said, “For everyone who missed out on the 400-point rally yesterday and today, I have one thing to say: It’s not too late, you've barely missed a thing.” Proof: Cramer said when the Fed realized the extent of its problems back in 1990, it was a great time to get into the market. Since then: Dow Jones up 10,000 points. People shouldn’t pay attention to the “negative Nancies” that have been scared out of the market. Cramer says the rate cut has been great for so many stocks. Including: Kohl’s (KSS), Target (TGT), as well as the banks. Also: Wachovia (WB), Downey Financial (DSL), and FirstFed Financial (FED). Cramer is still in the middle on homebuilders. He wouldn’t touch Lennars (LEN) or KB Homeses (KBH), but wouldn’t short them anymore.
AT&T (T): Cramer spent the next segment telling why AT&T is a good buy. It has a good dividend and has “totally reinvented itself as a growth company” by investing in telco companies. AT&T CFO Rick Linder was welcomed to the show and said the telco industry is resurging. Their wireless data, broadband, and video division are all taking off as well. Their acquisition of Apple’s iPhone has been largely successful, especially since its price drop to $200.
Mad Mail: writer commented on Cisco's (CSCO) recent acquisition of wireless solutions company Cognio and asked if all WiFi companies are headed down the bandwidth road to the extent that Level 3 Communications (LVLT) will soon experience explosive revenue and profit growth.
Am I Diversified? Cramer’s first caller asked if he was diversified with the following five stocks: Apple, Noble (NE), Potash (POT), Research In Motion (RIMM) and Schlumberger (SLB). Cramer pointed out two pairs with Apple and RIMM, and Noble and Schlumberger. Throw out Noble and Apple and add a defense play like Northrop Grumman (NOC) and a financial like Wachovia. Separately, Cramer said he prefers Deere (DE), Monsanto (MON) and Bunge (BG) to Potash.
His second caller named these five picks: Genentech (DNA), Fuel-Tech (FTEK), NightHawk Radiology (NHWK), L-1 Identity Solutions (ID) and US Gold (UXG). Cramer told the caller she had too much of a gambling portfolio with too many speculative stocks like ID, FTEK and UXG. He suggested getting out of those and into less speculative names.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Aug. 8th

Wall Street Casino: Cisco (NasdaqGS: CSCO - News), Under Armour (NYSE: UA - News), Coke (NYSE: K - News), Pepsi (NYSE: PEP - News), Level 3 Communications (NasdaqGS: LVLT - News)Cramer compared the stock market to a poker table at the Fed's casino where Ben Bernanke can change the rules at will. Everyone thought John Chambers, CEO of Cisco, was bluffing when he said networking was strong and announced a big buyback five days before the end of the quarter, but it turned out he was holding a full house. Cramer doesn't think Cisco's luck has run out yet, and thinks LVLT also has a "hot" hand. Under Armour had a poker face all quarter and showed a straight flush. Everyone sees Coke and Pepsi's hand, comments Cramer, and they will always have three of a kind, which is good in the current environment. However, financials have such "crummy" hands that they don't even try to fake it anymore.CEO Interview: Mackey McDonald, VF Corp. (NYSE: VFC - News)Cramer praised VFC for focusing on its brands and for expanding overseas while the domestic retail sector has been challenged lately. McDonald said the consumer is still buying, but is concentrating on high-quality products. "having a portfolio of strong brands is extremely important," he added, "We're always looking for additional brands. We establish a target list of areas we're not strong in that we want to be strong in. We find the best brands to fit those needs and try to make the best acquisitions we can." Cramer says VFC doesn't need the American consumer to thrive.Mad Mail: Hitting HomeWhen a viewer asked Cramer if a cut in interest rates will be bad for the dollar and harm investor holdings relative to the rest of the world, he said he doesn't care about dollars and tariffs, but is concerned about millions of Americans who are faced with the prospect of losing their homes.Published By SeekingAlpha

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap July 20th

Greed is Bad: Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT - News), Google (NasdaqGS: GOOG - News), Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN - News), NVidia (NasdaqGS: NVDA - News), Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD - News), Corning (NYSE: GLW - News), Apple (NasdaqGS: AAPL - News), Bunge (NYSE: BG - News), Celgene (NasdaqGS: CELG - News), Cummins (NYSE: CMI - News),Level 3 Communications (NasdaqGS: LVLT - News), Chevron (NYSE: CVX - News) and ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM - News), Countrywide Financial (NYSE: CFC - News), Amazon (NasdaqGS: AMZN - News), Boeing (NYSE: BA - News), Colgate (NYSE: CL - News), ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP - News),
Cramer's said his Game Plan is a bit different this week; he is listing stocks reporting next week, but wants viewers to buy only one (Corning) before its report. While he is bullish in general and still believes the Dow will hit 14,500 by the end of the year, he admits things have been a bit precarious with the disappointing Google and CAT quarters, and suggests taking some profits to avoid being dangerously greedy. Cramer calls Google a "show me" company which has to prove that it can monetize its new hires, or face a decline. While he had faith in CAT for its international exposure, the culprit was "housing, which is so horrible that it brings down anything it touches." However, he thinks the stock will regain its momentum and eventually reach $120. Cramer discussed next week's earnings reports:
Monday: Cramer would buy TXN, his favorite semiconductor, if there is a decline after the report. He suggests selling some NVDA, which is up 6 points, and would buy some back if it gets knocked down by AMD's analyst meeting.
Tuesday: CFC is "the biggest and best view" of how housing really is .... "its really bad," and remarked that the Fed will only notice when a bank, broker or major homebuilder goes under. "Hobbled horseman" Amazon will be viewed negatively no matter what it says, so Cramer would buy on a decline.
Wednesday: BA's consistency during the selloff was impressive, said Cramer who predicts the stock is going to 120. He added if it drops to below $100 before its report, he might buy. While CL is a "classic weak dollar" play, it is a bit high. While COP may face a downgrade, Cramer would buy it on a decline because he predicts it will reach $120. Cramer called GLW "the gold star" and said it is the only stock he would buy ahead of its quarter next week, because doesn't think the company would raise its dividend and buy back stock right before a major disappointment. Cramer would sell some Apple since "hogs get slaughtered."
Thursday: Since Bunge rose after last quarter's decline, Cramer predicts a repeat performance and would buy Bunge when it drops. Cramer likes Celgene long-term and recommends picking some up when it declines. Although he thinks Cummins is not finished with its run, he would take some profits, especially after CAT's upset. No one will like Level 3 Communciation's quarter, said Cramer, and he would buy this stock which is a great play on internet video.
Friday: "Wake up and smell the gasoline!" said Cramer, remarking it is greedy to stay in CVX and XOM without selling a little.
French Foreign Legion of Oil Companies: Total S.A. (NYSE: TOT - News)
Cramer continued his series on European stocks with Total, a massive integrated oil with strong production and refining assets in 27 countries. He thinks TOT is as good as Exxon, better than Chevron, and is cheaper than other major oil companies. He also thinks TOT is better and cheaper than European oils BP and Shell. TOT has a 13% stake in Sanofi Aventis, the French drug company, and Cramer hopes TOT will sell some and use the cash for "oil-related activity."
On Speculation: Tessera Technologies Inc. (NasdaqGS: TSRA - News)Cramers speculative pick for Friday is TSRA, which specializes in miniature technologies, which is a hot area since 80% of the Dram memory industry uses TSRA's technology. TSRA licenses its technology, so it has no inventory to move, and since Microsoft's Vista will be memory-intensive, there will be more demand for TSRA's technology. While the company is involved in a lot of lawsuits, TSRA is winning the cases and protecting its intellectual property. Finally, the 20x multiple is cheap considering its 31% growth rate.
CEO Interview: CEO T.J. Rodgers Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE: CY - News) and SunPower (NasdaqGM: SPWR - News)
Cramer congratulated Rodgers on a "magnificent quarter" and added that CY would be undervalued at $800 million if it spun off its power systems and services company, SunPower. Rodgers responded that while investors sometimes give him "heat" about holding on to SPWR, "the overall value of the company is reasonable." Cramer called Rodgers a visionary and a moneymaker.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review May 16th

Sole Survivor: Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM - News), Ford (NYSE: F - News), General Motors (NYSE: GM - News) and DaimlerChrysler (NYSE: DCX - News)
While Ford and General Motors are declining and Cerberus' acquisition of DCX should shrink it into a "teeny weeny auto company," Toyota will be the last big car company left, says Cramer. Although the stock is down after reporting disappointing numbers, Cramer believes TM will keep "growing and improving." Its decline in operating profit was the result of investing resources for growth, and Cramer notes TM is expanding while its competitors are shrinking. Cramer would buy TM while it is cheap.
Sweet as Honeywell (NYSE: HON - News)
Cramer continued his series on "transformational CEOs" with Dave Cote of Honeywell, who took the reins from "despised figure," Michael Bonsignore. The company was buried in asbestos problems, but since Dave Cote has taken over, the company has improved sales and cash flow. Athough it is up 10 points, Cramer is still bullish on HON.
Mad Mail: Level 3 Communications (NasdaqGS: LVLT), Syneron Medical (NasdaqGS: ELOS)
Cramer says LVLT is a good bandwith shortage play, and says CEO James Crowe is "bankable." While there is some concern over management change at ELOS, Cramer likes the company's recent numbers and says it is a "product story."

When stocks have tremendous runs, of course they come in ... It's one of these stocks that is using the incredibly low rates - 4.67% on the 10-year today... And they are refinancing, they are issuing equity instead of debt... I'm telling you to back up the truck at $6 smackers.'First Solar (NasdaqGM: FSLR): 'It's the hottest, it's the best, and it's FSLR, because it does not need a handout from the great United States of America, in order to make the numbers.'Saks (NYSE: SKS - News): 'even though they lost their CFO, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt! Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Mar. 27

Altria (NYSE: MO - News), Level 3 Communications (NasdaqGS: LVLT), NYSE Group (NYSE: NYX - News)
Cramer revisited his top 3 stock picks for 2007, noting MO is down and NYX hasn't moved yet, but reiterating his bullishness on all three. He explained NYX is crushed because of arbitrage pressure, since investors have been selling NYX and buying Euronext to make an "itsy bitsy" profit from the merger. But with next week's closing on the deal, NYX will be "kicking and screaming" and those "bum analysts" will have to raise estimates. Cramer would buy NYX before the analysts capitulate and ahead of a short squeeze. "At $93 and change, I see NYX jumping back to at least its 52-week high of [more than] $110 a share," he said.
Benefit of the Doubt: Myron Ullman of J. C Penney (NYSE: JCP - News), Terry Lungren of Federated Department Stores (NYSE: FD - News)
Continuing his series on CEOs who deserve the benefit of the doubt, Cramer said those who believed Myron Ullman when he said JCP would recover from its troubled quarter made some money, as the stock was downgraded to $77, but has recently bounced to $81. He believes JCP is "heading to new highs" and suggests staying with the stock the next time it gives a lackluster number. When Terry Lungren said FD's big miss last year would not happen again, Cramer was "wracked with indecision" and eventually abandoned the stock. However, those who were loyal to Lungren profited.
Harris Stratex Networks (NasdaqGM: HSTX) and Harris (NYSE: HRS - News)
Cramer did some homework when asked about HSTX and he said the parent company, HRS is a better stock, suggested selling the child and buying the parent, which has a mix of very strong businesses, including government communications systems, RF communications and broadcast. Recently HRS was awarded a $600 million contract from the U.S. Census Bureau for field data collection automation and is the "best play on Earth for the penetration of HDTV," Cramer said. CEO Interview: Vincent Sollitto, the CEO of Syntax-Brillian (NasdaqGM: BRLC)
Vincent Sollitto said business is "booming" with the company's Target sales and marketing campaign, and product reviews which are creating demand। When Cramer asked if BRLC is being hurt by housing, Sollitto responded that since people are holding onto their homes, they are more likely to remodel and there has been "tremendous" activity in the home theatre market; "I think it is a great time for us." Cramer is bullish but declined to give two thumbs up because BRLC is very speculative.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Lightning Round Jan. 24

Bullish calls:
Boeing (BA): ' ... it's two thumbs up, way up. That Wachovia guy who downgraded BA - he is going to be so massively wrong, it is frightening... 'Transocean (RIG): ' We like RIG.'Halliburton (HAL): ' ... yes, I'll stick my neck out once again, that HAL will be good.'NYSE (NYX): 'There's a story out there ... It says that there's going to be a massive lockup expiration, where everybody can sell 20 million shares. All the bears are keying on that ... my canvas of the stock tells me that none of the big holders is going to sell that stock. That's why NYX - which is my growth stock of the year - is headed to nothing short of $200!'Hain Celestial (HAIN): 'I would recommend HAIN as best of breed.'Level 3 Communications (LVLT): 'I say you should not be worried. This stock has had a miraculous run. But, it just again cleaned up its balance sheet even more by offering stock. This is one of my growth stocks that are speculative for the year. I reiterate my buy and, if it ever goes below $6, obviously you back up the truck!'Schering-Plough (SGP): 'I would vastly prefer SGP or JNJ [to PFE].'Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)Amgen (AMGN): 'I like AMGN and I like DNA for a little bit of growth.'Genentech (DNA)American Ecology (ECOL): ' ... look at ECOL.'Unilever (UN): 'I've been watching this stock creep up, and I keep saying to myself, 'Why didn't I recommend it? I knew that a turnaround was in place . I have missed UN. My bad. Is it too late to get in? No. Buy, buy, buy!'Diageo (DEO)Rackable Systems (RACK): 'I think it's way overdone to the downside ... I think you wait until the summer, you'll catch a bounce ... you stick with RACK. I don't want to go away from it.'eBay (EBAY)USG (USG): 'The only in-housing play that I've been recommending consistently is USG... I came back and said that stock is going higher. Swap out of yours and go into USG!'
Bearish calls:
Valero Energy (VLO): ' ... don't think VLO's going to do much. It's up 3 bucks, down 3 bucks... I'd like you to take the trade off though. I just don't think that, with oil and gas this low, that you really want to trifle with any of these things to buy on the way down, so let's ix-nay that trade when it comes in a little, and let's play on the long side.'SunOpta (STKL): 'We're swapping out of STKL and we're going into HAIN... 'Georgia Gulf (GGC): 'The only in-housing play that I've been recommending consistently is... Swap out of yours and go into USG!'Pfizer (PFE): 'You've got what I call dead money ... Keep selling PFE. It's just like owning a bond, but a little less exciting.'Republic Services (RSG): ' ... when we buy a company at twice its growth rate, in terms of a P/E, it's been catastrophic for us. So I want you to sell that one - sell, sell, sell.'
