Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review May 19th

In November, 2007, Cramer identified five stocks that he felt were made of Kevlar and could withstand the ailing economy and sub-prime mortgage crisis. To date those five stocks are up 8.8%, while the S&P 500 is down, 3.3%.
Cramer said it wasn't smooth sailing for his "bullet-proof" stocks at the start. Just a week after he mentioned the names, the portfolio was down a quick 6%. "But that's the point," he said, "we bought these stocks because they bounce back."
Cramer's first pick in his portfolio is Altria (MO), a stock which he owns for his charitable trust Action Alerts PLUS. Since the recommendation, Altria has spun off its Phillip Morris International (PM) division, and collectively the stocks are up 4.7% since November.
Cramer said he's a fan of both companies, especially Altria's 5% dividend yield.
Next on the list was Freeport-McMoran (FCX), another stock which he owns for his charitable trust Action Alerts PLUS.
Cramer called Freeport, which is up 11.9% since he mentioned it, the best copper story in the world.
Third in the portfolio was another Action Alerts name: Foster Wheeler (FWLT). Although Foster has been a laggard in the portfolio, down 1% since November, Cramer said the company is still levered to high energy prices around the world and here too and he's been buying more shares.
Fourth was Transocean (RIG), the star performer in the group, up 27.6%. Cramer called Transocean the best deep-water contract driller out there with great earnings visibility. He advised viewers to take some profits, but remained bullish on the company.
Finally, Cramer revisited Medco Health (MHS), a stock which is up just 0.7% since the November mention. Cramer said that while Medco makes its money whether or not the economy does well, it has more competition that he originally thought and perhaps the traditional defensive stock wasn't right for this portfolio. He told viewers "if it rallies, I'd sell it."

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Feb. 11th

Altria (MO), Bank of America (BAC), Chevron (CVX), Honeywell (HON), Conco-Phillips (COP), Freeport-McMoran (FCX), Schlumberger (SLB), American International Group (AIG), Pfizer (PFE), Cisco (CSCO)
Cramer was disappointed with Dow Jones' facelift which involved getting rid of Altria, and Honeywell, and adding Bank of America and Chevron. Three economic themes Cramer thinks should have been expressed in the Index changes are the growing importance of natural resources, the dwindling power of the financial sector and international growth. None of these themes were reflected in today's choices, Cramer commented. He said a financial should have been removed rather than added to the Dow, COP would have been a better choice than CVX, and would have considered including FCX or SLB in addition to keeping HON. He would have dropped AIG which is a travesty masquerading as an insurance company whose CEO, Martin Sullivan, was recently added to Cramer's Wall of Shame. He would also give Pfizer the pink slip, and would consider adding CSCO, since it is diversified.
Raytheon (RTN)
In spite of Goldman's Sachs note of Early indications of slowing growth in defense spending..., the military budget keeps growing; President Bush is asking for a $515 million for 2009 which is a 7.5% increase. Cramer likes RTN in this space because it has strong international sales, and is up 25% since Goldman's downgrade last March, but he would wait for a pullback before buying.
McDonald's (MCD), Darden (DRI)
One month of data does not justify a bearish position on a restaurant stock, said Cramer, noting McDonald's $6 rise since Bear Stearns hastily downgraded the stock for weak December same store sales (January same store sales increases 5.7%) An even faster kneejerk (or, rather, prejerk) occurred when Darden was downgraded only a few minutes before its better-than-expected guidance was released. The moral of the story, according to Cramer, is that when analysts unfairly downgrade stock on scant data, it is time to buy. Cramer would buy MCD now even though it has risen a bit.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review Dec. 7th

The Fuel is Greener: Deere (DE), Monsanto (MON), Bunge (BG), Mosaic (MOS), Agrium (AGU), Potash (POT)
When looking at the agriculture bull market, Cramer urged investors to think energy and not food. As oil prices rise, the pressure to develop alternative fuels from soybeans and corn will increase. This has been good news for farming stocks such as Deere, Bunge and Monsanto and especially fertilizer companies, Agrium, Potash and Mosaic. "All of these gains have been driven by demand," Cramer said and sees years of upside in this sector. However, since many agriculture stocks have already increased substantially, Cramer would wait for a decline before buying many of them.
Still Time for NYSE Euronext (NYX)
While NYX has been the worst performing stock Cramer has seen in 26 years in the business, he would stay with it. His thesis for owning the stock is unchanged and the only reason NYX went down is because "it was just going down…. Even though you hate owning it, nothing fundamental has changed for the company underneath it." In fact, NYX keeps beating estimates, its fundamentals are better than they were at the beginning of the year, and Cramer thinks this bear raid on NYX can't last forever.
Sitting on the Fed Fence: Kroger (KR), Costco (COST)
Cramer advised a wait and see strategy concerning the Fed meeting on Tuesday. A quarter point cut in rates could lead to recession fears and may bring some stocks down. On the other hand, a half a point cut could be a buying opportunity for banks tech and industrials. If it weren’t for the meeting, Cramer would suggest buying Costco and Kroger ahead of their earnings reports, but now he recommends waiting before making a move.
Meet the Mutual Fund Manager: Ron Muhlenkamp of Muhlenkamp (MUHLX) with stocks: Altria (MO), Devon Energy (DVN), Cemex (CX)
Cramer said investing in a mutual fund is really an investment in the fund’s manager, and invited Ron Muhlenkamp to discuss his strategy of finding good companies at low prices, particularly names others don’t recognize yet or like. He discussed MO, one of the fund’s holdings and said there is room to grow for DVN and CX.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Nov. 1st

Buy Altria (MO), Jim Cramer said Thursday on CNBC's Stop Trading! segment.
Cramer said recession fears and worries about financial stocks point to the need to buy consumer staples like cigarette maker Altria and soft drink companies Coke (KO) and Pepsi (PEP).
Cramer cautioned investors to stay away from mortgage stocks like insurer MBIA (MBI), because housing prices are far more important to the consumer's health than job numbers. Cramer said an unwarranted faith in the apparent strength of U.S. employment was behind the collapse of two hedge funds at Bear Stearns (BSC) this summer.
"Employment has been a false indicator for this economy," Cramer said.

Jim Cramer's Lightning Round Oct. 18th

Bullish calls:
Wachovia (WB): 'I think WB is one of the most conservatively-managed of the big money center banks right now. The yield is safe.' Research in Motion (RIMM): 'I like RIMM much better [than Palm].' Altria (MO): 'It's going to be two different companies. One is going to be high-growth... The other is going to be domestic. It's going to have a big yield …they are going to announce one of the biggest buybacks in history.' Bidu (BIDU): 'I said that BIDU - you should take out all the money you put in and play with the house's money... I am not willing to have you swap out of Google, to go into BIDU, though... Just too risky.'
Neutral calls:
RBC Bearings (ROLL): 'This is a very plain vanilla company... I'm going to give you one thumb up, just because United … maybe even a don't buy, don't buy. Investools (SWIM): 'They've had hundreds of thousands of people go through their classes. I just wish they had more profits. They've got huge revenues. It doesn't seem to be flowing to the bottom line. I'm not pulling the trigger on that one either.'
Bearish calls:
Palm (PALM): 'I think PALM is really scary, and I don't trust it... And why don't I trust it? It's poorly managed, poorly run.' Macy's (M): 'I did like Terry Lundgren [CEO}... But the guy is beginning to get me nervous and worried … Retail is bad.' IBM (IBM): 'A lot of people felt that the service revenue was okay, but the hardware was bad ...I think you mark time at $115, until the next quarter when they can clear that up...' InvesTools (SWIM)

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Oct. 12th

Cramer talked about three stocks that could benefit this week from the weak dollar. Coca-Cola (KO), which Cramer expects to hit $60 next week. The stock closed at $57.80.
Next is United Technologies (UTX), which Cramer said should "handily" beat its numbers with its great overseas exposure. Lastly, there is Altria (MO), which he also owns for his Action Alerts PLUS and which he believes is still the cheapest stock on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Cramer also said that Citigroup (C) CEO Chuck Prince could be out of his position next week. Market players should consider getting into Citigroup by Friday.
BEA Systems (BEAS) got a massive takeover bid from Oracle (ORCL), something Cramer said he's been predicting would happen for a while. Activist investor Carl Icahn told Cramer that he was "right on" with his predictions. Icahn also said he feels Motorola (MOT) has "great value" and should be split up.
UBS (UBS) - Cramer told viewers that when a stock reports bad news and still goes higher, it's telling people it has bottomed and is ready to go much higher. He said that the bad news had been priced in the stock and now it is ready to go higher.
Tutogen Medical (TTG). On speculation Friday, Cramer said that although the stock is less than $1 away from its 52-week high, it looks like Tutogen could be headed up on deals with other companies. Cramer likes the stock, because it's likely it will get a bid from Zimmer Holdings (ZMH).
Cramer welcomed Chicago Bear linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer on his show. When Hillenmeyer asked Cramer about Las Vegas Sands (LVS), Cramer pointed out the management there is "extraordinary." However, he believes Wynn (WYNN) is running the best casino in Macau. Cramer advised taking a little off the table. Next, he suggested Hillenmeyer consider selling JetBlue (JBLU) on Monday and buying more NYSE (NYX), which Cramer owns for his charitable trust, below $80

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Lighting Round Sept. 25th

Cramer started the Lightning Round by recommending that holders of Baidu.com (BIDU) and Focus Media (FMCN) take some profits off the table. The holders of these stocks should sell half their holdings.

Bullish:
Cisco (CSCO) is a better choice than Arris Group
Procter & Gamble (PG)
AK Steel (AKS): Cramer recommended owning AKS on the potential for a takeover.
Go with Wynn (WYNN) and Las Vegas Sands (LVS) instead
Republic Services (RSG): Likes it but would go with Waste Management (WMI) is the best-of-breed stock in this space.
Altria (MO): Stick with it and buy more if it goes below $65.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): "One of the great growers."
Freeport-McMoRan (FCX): Cramer expects FCX to go $120, but he wouldn't frown on investors taking profits.
Cramer likes Best Buy (BBY) or Lululemon (LULU) better.
Chipotle (CMG) instead of Buffalo Wild Wings
Garmin (GRMN): Cramer likes the stock, but it's up too much today.

Bearish:
Harman International (HAR): Wait until December to look at.
Arris Group (ARRS): Overpay
Global Payments (GPN): Cramer's not interested.
Melco (MPEL): Three boo's
E*Trade (ETFC): Cramer isn't bullish on the stock just yet. He said he doesn't think it goes below $9.
GigaMedia (GIGM): Cisco (CSCO) is the better play here also.
hhgregg Inc (HGG): No
Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD): Cramer thinks you should get out of Buffalo Wild Wings

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review

Playing it Safe with Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG - News)
As interest rates go lower, dividends will rise in value, and Cramer recommends PG as a "money in the bank" dividend stock. While at first glance, few would be impressed by a $64 stock with a 2.2% yield, Cramer reminded viewers that PG was at $30 in 2000. Reinvesting PG's dividend is like having "compound interest" said Cramer and he lauds PG for its "mega buyback." He predicts PG will reach $90 and is a good way to "Fed-proof your portfolio."
How Much is that PetSmart in the Window? VCA Antech (NasdaqGS: WOOF - News), PetMed Express (NasdaqGS: PETS - News) and PetSmart (NasdaqGS: PETM - News)
The heated discussion over NFL star quarterback Michael Vick's upcoming trial shows "people won't stand for cruelty to animals," said Cramer who unveiled some of his pet picks and peeves. One pet peeve was WOOF's "piled-up debt," but he liked discount pet pharmacist PETS for its personalized care. However, his best pet pick was PETM, which is up $3 from where he recommended it in January. PETM is known for selling "high-class premium" items and has $245 million cash on hand. PETM will remain the victor as its main rival, Petco, will probably close stores after being taken over by a "debt-ridden" company.

Everybody out of the Poole: Bear Stearns (NYSE: BSC - News), Countrywide Financial (NYSE: CFC - News), Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS - News)
Cramer defended his vigorous criticism of St. Louis Federal Reserve President William Poole, who said interest rates should be raised, not lowered. Cramer accused Poole of "single-handedly attempting to destroy" the market and said he should put in his resignation. Senator Kent Conrad (D, N.D), chairman of the Budget Committee, was Cramer's guest caller and said Poole's proposal was "reckless and irresponsible" and would cause a calamity. He added difficulties at BSC, CFC and GS speak for themselves. Conrad added Poole' s statements showed a "lack of confidence" in the market, and Cramer concluded the segment with his hope that " people on Wall Street are as considerate as those in the Senate."
Mad Mail: Altria (NYSE: MO - News), Melco PBL Entertainment (NasdaqGM: MPEL - News), Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS - News) and Wynn Resorts (NasdaqGS: WYNN - News)
Cramer says there is "good news coming" at Altria with a rise of 5 points to the 70s but not the 80s, since it is a stock "everybody already owns" and has limited upside. Atlhough he liked the IPO, Cramer says MPEL is now worst of breed and prefers LVS or WYNN.

Jim Cramer's Wall Street Confidential Aug. 16th

PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP - News), Pfizer (NYSE: PFE - News), Schering-Plough (NYSE: SGP - News), Kellogg (NYSE: K - News), General Mills (NYSE: GIS - News), Altria (NYSE: MO - News), CVS Caremark (NYSE: CVS - News), MedcoHealth (NYSE: MHS - News), Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH - News)
Cramer says almost everyone, including him, is "getting killed" in this market, and he wants viewers to understand "why it's so cataclysmic out there, so at least they have the grounding to say, 'OK, I'm willing to ride this out." While some suggest getting out of stocks, Cramer recognizes many people invest for the long term. However, he added; "What I'm trying to do is focus on what can work and what will really be hurt, not what's working, because nothing's working." Cramer said he got through the credit crunch in 1990s by focusing on the bull market and on 20 stocks that weren't losing. Examples may be PEP, PFE, SGP, K, GIS, MO, CVS, MHS, CAH. While he may have 10 to 1 bears out of every stock pile, Cramer urges viewers to "recognize that as the Federal Reserve continues to do a de facto tightening, you're going to continue to have spillover."

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review May 21st

Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA - News), Altria (NYSE: MO - News), American Express (NYSE: AXP - News), American International Group (NYSE: AIG - News), AT&T (NYSE: T - News), Boeing (NYSE: BA - News)
Cramer predicted another 1,000 points for the Dow by the year's end and dedicated the week to discussing the 30 Dow stocks. He noted AA has been up 30% and predicts it will reach $42-$45. If it combines with Alcan, Cramer says AA could be part of a "delicious aluminum oligopoly." Cramer comments MO's 10% rise is not enough, especially given its 4% yield. Since it has spun off Kraft, Cramer envisions MO dividing into International and American divisions, one with a big dividend and one with growth potential. Cramer says AXP is "deceptive," since it quietly delivers but is up only 5% this year and is trailing behind Mastercard in valuation. He predicts AXP will climb up to $72. AIG doesn't get the respect it deserves, according to Cramer who says Metlife should not be worth more than AIG, which has a gigantic business in China. He says AIG has been held back by the massive selling of deposed head Maurice "Hank" Greenberg, and is a $81 name masquerading as a $71 stock. AT & T surpassed Cramer's expectations, since it has risen 13% after he predicted a mere 6 point rise. His new prediction is T will inch its way to $45. Cramer also revised his target for BA from $100 to $105 because of its excellent earnings.
Give Some Credit to Total System Services (NYSE: TSS - News), Automatic Data Processing (NYSE: ADP - News)
Cramer would buy TSS, a debit and credit card information card processor, which is a subsidiary of Synovus Financial. Although in similar situations, Cramer usually prefers a parent company, he feels that TSS could get taken over by a private equity firm. In addition, TSS has solid fundamentals, double-digit growth and is debt-free. While ADP may also be a takeover target, Cramer feels TSS is a better option because it is cheaper.
CEO Interview: John Sztykiel, Spartan Motors (NasdaqGS: SPAR)
John Sztykiel discussed the "tremendous amount of profitable growth ahead for the company," and explained the company is focused on three growth opportunities; mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, recreational autos and emergency vehicles. While Cramer comments SPAR has paused for a bit, he likes its story and says it is in "bull-market" mode.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap April 5

Rethinking Spartan Motors Spartan Motors (NasdaqGS: SPAR)
Although he initially rejected a pitch for Spartan Motors made by an IU Kelley School of Business student, Cramer is now bullish after investigating the stock further. Initially, he thought SPAR was mainly involved with recreational vehicles which would be out of favor with rising oil prices. However, Spartan also manufactures emergency vehicles, and since 55% of the nation's firetrucks need replacing, Spartan vehicles will be in demand. In addition, the armed forces require vehicles that will protect soldiers from roadside bombs. Spartan's military motor division recently scored the second largest contract in its history. The company's RV business is doing well, because baby boomers love RVs. While Spartan has a great story, Cramer cautions that this small-cap speculative stock may not be for everyone and to wait for a pullback before buying.
Sell Block: WCI Communities (NYSE: WCI - News), Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG - News), Hologic (NasdaqGS: HOLX), Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC - News), Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP - News), Greenbrier Companies (NYSE: GBX - News), Coldwater Creek (NasdaqGS: CWTR), Gilead Sciences (NasdaqGS: GILD), Celgene (NasdaqGS: CELG), Altria (NYSE: MO - News), Kraft (NYSE: KFT - News) Take-Two Interactive (NasdaqGS: TTWO)
Cramer is "adamant that homebuilders can't be owned" and would sell WCI even though it hasn't moved, along with SPG, which has had a big increase. He would also sell HOLX which is "priced for perfection" but which has been the target of articles suggesting its products are less than perfect. Cramer likes rails as a "happy oligopoly, but given NSC's disappointing guidance, he would swap it for UNP on any strength. Cramer confessed "I deserve to be roasted over hot coals" for recommending GBX as a short-busting play when the stock has had a huge drop. Cramer wants to avoid getting burned again over CWTR and would sell even though it seems to be making a comeback. He thinks upgrades of semiconductors are "insane" and would get rid of the entire sector. Gilead, Cramer's "bio stock of the year" is now too expensive, and he would sell it or swap into Celgene. Now that Altria has spun off Kraft, Cramer would hold onto MO and sell KFT; "American cheese just doesn't turn it's customers into hopeless addicts."Finally, the fact that it is difficult to zero in on what is really wrong with TTWO is the best reason to sell it.
Mad Mail: Deere (NYSE: DE - News), Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO - News)
Cramer would back up the truck and buy DE because, for the long-term "we are in a secular bull market inf farming" and sees a strong comeback for Deere. Cramer also likes KO because if it's brand turns around in Japan, KO could rise from $50 to $55.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Mar. 27

Altria (NYSE: MO - News), Level 3 Communications (NasdaqGS: LVLT), NYSE Group (NYSE: NYX - News)
Cramer revisited his top 3 stock picks for 2007, noting MO is down and NYX hasn't moved yet, but reiterating his bullishness on all three. He explained NYX is crushed because of arbitrage pressure, since investors have been selling NYX and buying Euronext to make an "itsy bitsy" profit from the merger. But with next week's closing on the deal, NYX will be "kicking and screaming" and those "bum analysts" will have to raise estimates. Cramer would buy NYX before the analysts capitulate and ahead of a short squeeze. "At $93 and change, I see NYX jumping back to at least its 52-week high of [more than] $110 a share," he said.
Benefit of the Doubt: Myron Ullman of J. C Penney (NYSE: JCP - News), Terry Lungren of Federated Department Stores (NYSE: FD - News)
Continuing his series on CEOs who deserve the benefit of the doubt, Cramer said those who believed Myron Ullman when he said JCP would recover from its troubled quarter made some money, as the stock was downgraded to $77, but has recently bounced to $81. He believes JCP is "heading to new highs" and suggests staying with the stock the next time it gives a lackluster number. When Terry Lungren said FD's big miss last year would not happen again, Cramer was "wracked with indecision" and eventually abandoned the stock. However, those who were loyal to Lungren profited.
Harris Stratex Networks (NasdaqGM: HSTX) and Harris (NYSE: HRS - News)
Cramer did some homework when asked about HSTX and he said the parent company, HRS is a better stock, suggested selling the child and buying the parent, which has a mix of very strong businesses, including government communications systems, RF communications and broadcast. Recently HRS was awarded a $600 million contract from the U.S. Census Bureau for field data collection automation and is the "best play on Earth for the penetration of HDTV," Cramer said. CEO Interview: Vincent Sollitto, the CEO of Syntax-Brillian (NasdaqGM: BRLC)
Vincent Sollitto said business is "booming" with the company's Target sales and marketing campaign, and product reviews which are creating demand। When Cramer asked if BRLC is being hurt by housing, Sollitto responded that since people are holding onto their homes, they are m
