Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Oct. 29th

On Monday's show, Cramer said that he thinks retailers will have a turnaround. He believes that the good retailers can't fall any further, and that there will be 2 more rate cuts before the end of the year, which he thinks is bullish for retailers if you look back at their past performance after rate cuts. Cramer also said that the change in the weather will allow retailers to move some of their new winter products. His first two retail picks are Ralph Lauren (RL) and Nordstrom (JWN). Both of these stocks are down big from their recent highs, and he thinks that luxury goods retailers will be the first to turn around since people with more money to spend won't be as concerned with economical concerns, making both of these stocks bargains.Cramer then went to the phonelines. The first caller asked about J.C. Penney (JCP), and Cramer said that he likes the stock, but can't pull the trigger because he thinks it will be behind the luxury retailers when the sector turns around. The next caller asked about timing the purchase of retail stocks around Christmas. Cramer said that it is time to buy these two stocks now. The last caller asked about Build a Bear Workshop (BBW), and Cramer said he wants you to stay far away from that stock.Cramer then gave out his top retail pick, which was Target (TGT). He also noticed that stores are very full, thinks that they make shopping fun, that they are opening stores rapidly, and that the stock is cheap. But his primary reason is that the company is thinking about selling its credit card business, which could fetch up to $7 billion. Target could use this money for a large stock buyback.Cramer also mentioned that he had a good call to sell Smith and Wesson (SWHC) last week since they guided earnings lower today. After the lightning round, Cramer talked with Chris Matthews about the effect politics and the upcoming elections will have on the stock markets.

Mad Mail: The first email asked if Cramer would have other presidential candidates on the show, and Cramer said that he welcomes them all on the show. The next email asked about Sketchers (SKX), and Cramer said that he thinks they suffered from bad timing, and he thinks they have that straightened out now. Another email asked about Six Flags (SIX), and Cramer said they got hurt by bad weather and bad acquisitions. Lastly, an emailer asked about Hologic (HOLX), and Cramer said not to worry about the large short interest because it is being driven up by merger arbitrage players.

Sudden Death. Cramer is bullish on Manitowoc (MTW), bullish on Baidu.com (BIDU), bearish on Dow Chemical (DOW), and bullish on Adobe (ADBE).

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Aug. 16th

Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC - News), Countrywide Financial's (NYSE: CFC - News), Washington Mutual (NYSE: WM - News), Bank of America (NYSE: BAC - News), Wachovia (NYSE: WB - News)
Thursday's dash for financials may indicate the sector will be one of the "long-term beneficiaries" of Bernanke's position, but Cramer does not think they are safe. He tacked a double sell on WM but thought BAC and WB could survive. However, he reserved the lion's share of his praise for WFC, and said, "It is the great speculative play that should prosper." He believes WFC will "own the mortgage market" and will win with investors because it offers a great dividend. Cramer would wait for WFC to drop to the $32 - $34 range.
Sell Block: VMware (NYSE: VMW - News), H&R Block (NYSE: HRB - News), Capital One Financial (NYSE: COF - News), Friedman Billings Ramsey Group (NYSE: FBR - News) Lamson & Sessions (NYSE: LMS - News), Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News)
Cramer urged investors to "stay the course" and added "no one ever made a dime panicking." However, he added it isn't too late to sell minerals and he feels tigher consumer spending will put pressure on retail. Cramer would sell VMW after its highly successful IPO, and would stay away from HRB, COF and FBR. He would also sell LMS as well as SIX because of low attendance due to the weather. He concluded it is better to invest in long-term stocks rather than quick trades in the current environment.
KKR Financial (NYSE: KFN - News), Thornburg Mortgage (NYSE: TMA - News) and Reynolds American (NYSE: RAI - News)
Not all high dividends are good dividends, Cramer declared and used KFN and TMA as examples. He added high-dividend names KFN and TMA aren't worth the investment because as their stocks fall so will the yields. Cramer likes RAI which has a dividend of 5.5% and is a "smart play" in this environment because "nothing is more defensive than cigarettes."
Mad Mail: Bear Stearns (NYSE: BSC - News), Jones Soda (NasdaqCM: JSDA) and Google (NasdaqGS: GOOG - News)
Cramer would avoid BSC and JSDA whose climb was "how to make a million" in the market. He adds GOOG is safe and likes the tech sector for its pristine balance sheets and great products.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review July 24th

CEO Interview: Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP - News)
"The stocks are saying there's going to be a slowdown, so it would be wise for you to prepare for it," said Cramer, and while he isn't urging people to sell all their cyclicals yet, he suggests its time to take some profits. He invited Pepsi CEO and chairman Indra Nooyi onto the show to discuss the company's great performance which she said was due to the company's diverse portfolio and stellar management. Nooyi added, in terms of financial resources, Pepsi is not constrained, and in terms of people-resources, North America is growing and the company's international business is "exploding." Cramer mentioned a Wall Street Journal story that Nestle turned down a merger with Pepsi because it considers the latter company junk-food laden. Nooyi pointed out Pepsi's expansion into non-carbonated beverages and healthy snacks and its production process which conserves energy and water. Cramer remarked Pepsi delivered better than expected numbers and is a the right stock to buy.

Remember the AlaMobile: Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN - News), Nokia (NYSE: NOK - News), Ericsson (NasdaqGS: ERIC - News), Sony (NYSE: SNE - News), Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI - News), National Semiconductor (NYSE: NSM - News)
With back -to-school tech gadgets in production, Cramer discussed TXN which was hit by a selloff; "I don't care about the quarter," he said. "I care about the future, because that is where we're going to make our money." He would use the decline as a buying opportunity, and thinks its mobile business will energize TXN. He added NOK, ERIC, SNE, ADI and NSM are also doing well. Returning to TXN, Cramer predicts the next quarter will be excellent and adds the company has a "massive rest-of-world" exposure.

Go Cisco (NasdaqGS: CSCO - News)! with Juniper Networks (NasdaqGS: JNPR - News), and Ciena (NasdaqGS: CIEN - News)
Cramer discussed a Financial Times interview during which Cisco CEO John Chambers says he's more enthusiastic about the company than he has been in a decade and the internet is entering a second phase which should last 10 to 15 years. Since Cisco provides the "backbone" for many types of communcation, Cramer doubts Chambers is just trying to sell his company, and notes Cisco rivals are delivering but have less upside than Cisco. Cramer noted Cisco is not expensive, is below its 52-week high, has $22 billion in cash and is protected from the ailing economy with its big international exposure.

Mad Mail: Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News), Men's Wearhouse (NYSE: MW - News)
Cramer told one viewer not to touch financial stocks. He said he doesn't like SIX's balance sheet, and added the stock will do badly if the weather is not good. He told another mailer he doesn't like Men's Warehouse.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading May 23

On Greenspan's remark that he expects a "dramatic contraction" in Shanghai: While Cramer says there will be some "serious selloffs" as there are in any bull market, he does not agree with Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan's dire prediction for China, and notes the Chinese market is up 45% after February's 9% drop. Cramer adds that unlike Japan, China has growth potential.
Crocs (NasdaqGS: CROX): Cramer tells investors to "press the bet" on Crox, at least until the final two anaylsts give their ratings. The shoe-seller rose 1% after reaching a 52-week high, and Cramer expects more upside.
Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News): Good weather should mean a rise to $9 from $6 for SIX, says Cramer

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review May 11th

Time Heals all Wounds: Kinetic Concepts (NYSE: KCI - News) and Smith & Nephew (NYSE: SNN - News)
Although Cramer usually prefers medical stocks which are a "pastiche," he likes KCI as a speculative stock even though it is levered only to wound-care and therapeutic service products. He is not concerned about the "nasty beating" KCI has taken, since the bulls and bears tend to fight it out over companies like KCI, and Cramer thinks the bulls will win. Another concern is KCI has reached 90% saturation in wound care and now has to compete for market share with SNN which recently acquired Blue Sky Medical. Cramer believes KCI has many competitive advantages, its 3% drop was "overdone," and only 10% of its revenue comes from bandages. He is confident KCI will bounce back.
On the Mend: Micrus Endovascular (NasdaqGM: MEND), Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX - News) and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ - News)
While those holding the stock may be in the "House of Pain" after MEND failed to get approval in China for its cerebral aneurysm treatment, Cramer thinks its $2 fall is a good opportunity to buy. He believes approval has been postponed and not cancelled, and would sell into strength once the treatment is approved. Cramer is not worried about large competitors BSX and JNJ. He also notes MEND could be a takeover target; "It either makes you money or it will get bought out." Cramer would buy the stock in increments andwould use limit orders.
Game Plan for the Coming Week: Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE: TMO - News), J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP - News), Kohl's (NYSE: KSS - News), Home Depot (NYSE: HD - News), TJX Companies (NYSE: TJX - News), Jack in the Box (NYSE: JBX - News), Deere (NYSE: DE - News)
Cramer would look into buying scientific-instruments producer TMO before its analyst meeting on Tuesday. He also likes retailers JCP, KSS which report Thursday, and he thinks the downside has been priced into the stocks. Cramer is currently bullish on retail, and would buy half a position in HD before its Tuesday report, since he believes its management is developing "retail-savvy." Tuesday is also the day Cramer believes investors will see a "terrific" report from TJX and a "gigantic beat" from JBX, and he would buy ahead. However, Cramer would wait until after DE's report on Wednesday before buying, because the stock has increased, and he would wait for a selloff and a price drop.
CEO Interview: Mark Shapiro, Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News)
Mark Shapiro is looking forward to an "extremely good summer season" given the number of group sales and season passes SIX has already sold. Meanwhile, the company has been investing in more aggressive marketing, employee training and recruiting. Although the weather is an unknown variable, Shapiro's aim is to "increase value proposition for our guests." Cramer remarks Shapiro is "good to go" and is sticking with Six Flags.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap May 4

Good As Golden Star Resources (AMEX: GSS - News)
Cramer likes GSS as a way to play the CNBC Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge. The company operates in South America and Africa, and is therefore highly speculative, but has a large mine in Ghana, "an island of stability." The bears are worried about a sulfide-processing plant GSS is building in Ghana, but Cramer thinks investors should use this anxiety as an opportunity to buy. He predicts the announcement of a new plant, which will double production and lower costs, will be sooner than expected. With this news, analysts will raise their numbers and the stock will go higher. Cramer also believes GSS may be taken over, and he likes the sector, since gold is moving up. Cramer would not swap out of best-of-breed Yamana to buy GSS, but likes the price at $4.46, and urges investors to use limit orders when buying.
Laser King: Ionatron (NasdaqGM: IOTN), Palomar Medical Technologies (NasdaqGS: PMTI), Syneron Medical (NasdaqGS: ELOS), Cynosure (NasdaqGM: CYNO)
Cramer noted that last Friday's laser pick, IOTN has risen 17% since his recommendation, and he decided to choose a new "laser king." Cramer has liked PMTI in the past and declared ELOS the "czar of lasers" when he was discussing cosmetic laser procedures. Now CYNO wears the laser king crown, since it has doubled while ELOS hasn't moved. In addition, CYNO has 30% growth and is levered to the rest of the world. Cramer added he prefers "a performer that's pricey" to "an underperformer that's cheap." PMTI is Cramer's second-best pick, but is more costly than CYNO, and he likes ELOS, but doesn't see it going up in the near future.
Game Plan for the Coming Week: Fluor (NYSE: FLR - News), McDermott International (NYSE: MDR - News), Foster Wheeler (NasdaqGS: FWLT), CVS/Caremark (NYSE: CVS - News), Dynegy (NYSE: DYN - News), Nabors (NYSE: NBR - News), Halliburton (NYSE: HAL - News), Parker Drilling (NYSE: PKD - News), Forest Oil (NYSE: FST - News), L-1 Identity Solutions (NYSE: ID - News), Precision Castparts (NYSE: PCP - News), Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News), Syntax-Brillan (NasdaqGM: BRLC)
Cramer suggesting looking at infrastructure, especially MDR, FLR, and FWLT which are "terrific" companies and which should benefit from high oil prices. He would establish half a position before their reports and half after, and would buy the stocks on any weakness. On Monday, he would also buy FST. Cramer praises CVS as having "valued itself even further into the health care heaven" with its cheap Caremark purchase, and would buy ahead of its Tuesday report, adding he also likes DYN. PKD, which also reports on Tuesday, may be bought by NBR or HAL which discussed expansion during their conference calls, Cramer commented. His Wednesday picks include ID, PCP and SIX. Since the LCD TV sector is improving, Cramer likes BRLC which reports on Thursday after the markets close.
CEO Interview: Nolan Archibald, Black and Decker (NYSE: BDK - News)
Nolan Archibald says BDK's report was strong because of the company's "great brands and innovative products" which thrive in down times. BDK is featuring new Dewalt brand products including concrete breakers, hammers and generators. Archibald added the company is going to continue buying back shares. Cramer commented BDK is "the real deal" and sees it rising from $92.36 to $100.

Is there a day this stock doesn't go down after that great quarter? Neutral calls:
Cadbury Schweppes (NYSE: CSG - News): 'It yields 3.68% and it's all the way down to $41?... I've got to look at that .... Let's do a segment on CSG - I don't know whether it's going to be positive or negative - next week.'
Bearish calls:
Bausch & Lomb (NYSE: BOL - News): ' Here's the deal: I think that BOL - as long as it's run by Ron Zarella - is a nightmare. And he is in my hall of shame. Sell, sell, sell! He's ridiculous. He should step down. And, you know what Ron? It's not personal. It's just business.'American Home Mortgage (NYSE: AHM - News): 'That dividend is 18%, and I think some large dividends, unlike hips, do lie. I want to be careful of that ... that dividend is a distinct red flag. I'm nervous.'Dell (NasdaqGS: DELL): 'No. Sell, sell, sell! No, Michael Dell cannot work miracles. I like HPQ*. It's been stuck here, under $40. I want you to make the switch out of the DELL and into the HPQ.'Iconix Brand (NasdaqGM: ICON): 'This stock has so much momentum that it actually - and I don't mean this to be negative - this one scare's me, it's got so much momentum... I keep reading about it virtually everywhere ... I don't want to buy it, even though I know it's doing the right thing. Don't buy, don't buy.'Gmarket (NasdaqGM: GMKT): 'You know, GMKT's bad ... This has been a tough market. GMKT I was too bullish on it ... I hope it really goes up so we can really dump on it and get everybody out of it.'Melco PBL Entertainment (NasdaqGM: MPEL):Micron Technology (NYSE: MU - News): 'Not in our lifetime. Sell, sell, sell! Stay away my friend!'Pfizer (NYSE: PFE - News):Crown Media Holdings (NasdaqGM: CRWN): 'Your stock stinks! Sell, sell, sell!'

The 2006 Noisey Awards - Part 2

Best Backdoor IPO: Dov Charney's sexual escapades are legendary in the fashion and apparel business. They would have made for fun reading in a prospectus, but American Apparel's founder and chief executive doesn't have to worry about that now. Charney sold his company last week to Endeavor Acquisition Corp. (AMEX: EDA - News), a "blank-check" company. The deal allows American Apparel to go public without dealing with the scrutiny of analysts, investors, and underwriters. Hopefully, the company will do a secondary offering at some point, if only to feed my need to read one trashy novel a year.
Sportsman Director of the Year: Lance Armstrong won seven-consecutive Tour de France titles, but to employees of Morgans Hotel Group Co. (Nasdaq: MHGC - News), he's best known as a member of the board of the directors. A boutique hotel owner and operator, Morgans went public in February at $20.00. Armstrong bought 1,000 shares during the initial public offering, but the investment has yet to pan out. If nothing else, Armstrong receives an annual fee of $25,000 for serving on the board, plus free or discounted rooms at Morgans' properties. Now, if he could only get Morgans to install bike racks outside of their properties.
Thanks For Nothing Award: After Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F - News) laid off thousands of workers as part of its "Way Forward" announcement, a former employee of the automaker put his alarm clock up for sale on eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY - News), writing, "This is a one-of-a-kind dual alarm clock with AM/FM radio and with 'INDIGLO Right Light' display that worked phenomenally for 7 years for a Ford Motor Company engineer. This alarm clock is SO reliable that it helped me achieve a Perfect Attendance award for 4 of my 7 years at the company!!! Since I was laid off last week as part of Ford's 'Way Forward' initiative, I no longer have the need for an alarm clock." The clock, which retails for about $20, sold for $152.50.
I Hope They're Hedged Award: The implosion of biotech firm Telik Inc. (Nasdaq: TELK - News) was a rude, unwanted, late Christmas gift for many investors, but none more so than Eastbourne Capital Management, which owns about 13 million shares of the stock, or an almost 25% stake in the company. From February 24th to December 22nd, Eastbourne, through its Black Bear Offshore Master Fund LP, bought approximately 3.7 million shares of Telik at an average price of $16.90, or an investment of about $65 million. Eastbourne is down more than -72% on that position alone, and based on the firm's historic holdings of Telik and Telik's historic stock price, the firm looks to be anywhere from $150 million to $200 million in the red on the position.
The Seven Dirty Words Award: David Farr of Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE: EMR - News) takes this year's honors. The chairman and CEO of the electrical products maker used the S-word a combined three times on conference calls in August and November. Farr's best use of the word came in August when he answered a question regarding tax rates and worked in a jibe about the ability of Congress to pass new laws: "S!&%, miracles do happen."
The Un-Midas Touch Award: Daniel Snyder made a fortune in direct marketing, but thus far his efforts to turn around amusement park operator Six Flags Inc. (NYSE: SIX - News) have been anything but fun, as the stock looks like it will end the year down about -25% to -30%. Snyder's bigger problem is the on-the-field performance of the Washington Redskins. While he's built the team into the most valuable franchise in all of sports (thanks in part to the fact that it owns the stadium in which it plays), Snyder can't seem to put a winner on the gridiron. The 'Skins are wrapping up what is probably the most disappointing season of any NFL team, and fans in the D.C. area are increasingly debating whether Snyder or Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos is the worst owner in all of sports. Disclosure: The author was born in Washington, D.C. and lived in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area for 24 years.
Quote of the Week: "The three-martini lunch is the epitome of American efficiency. Where else can you get an earful, a bellyful, and a snootful at the same time?" - President Gerald R. Ford in 1976.
Quote of the Year: "However it happens, the hedge fund managers of today are often amassing huge fortunes. They are stars in the financial firmament. But clearly their social utility to the nation and to the world is hard to see when compared with the social utility conferred by an Andrew Carnegie, an Andrew Mellon, a Henry Ford, or a John D. Rockefeller, who genuinely built a nation and a world. Providing liquidity for different kinds of variable-rate mortgages simply does not compare, at least as I view it." - Ben Stein in the December 24th edition of The New York Times, in a column entitled, "The Hedge Kings Are Rich, but Will They Be Noble?"

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap

Disney (NYSE: DIS - News) and Six Flags (NYSE: SIX - News)Commenting on Disney's drop since its impressive earnings report last week, Cramer insists that DIS did not "drop the ball" but that analysts raised expectations before the report which made Disney look worse than it is. He notes that Pirates of the Caribbean brought in $1 billion and sales of its shows on iTunes is not hurting its TV business, and would use Disney's decline as an opportunity to buy. He also likes Six Flags.NYMEX (NYSE: NMX - News) and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: NYX - News)Cramer says that even though NMX has gone up, he would still buy 25% of a position in the stock now, however, he would prefer NYX up in the 130s and 140s.DJO (NYSE: DJO - News)The knee brace is becoming a fashion sports accessory as well as a treatment as companies encourage coaches to order knee braces in their teams' colors. Cramer discussed DJO in the past as a "simple but great" company, and now comments that "DJO is about braces and avoiding surgery -- a long-term trend."Network Appliance (NASDAQ: NTAP - News), Rackable Systems (NASDAQ: RACK - News), Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL - News) and Sony (NYSE: SNE - News)Cramer confessed that it was "hearbreaking" that those who sold NTAP on his suggestion missed a 12 point run. However, he also recommended sticking with RACK, and those who dumped the stock missed "an awesome 15 point run." Cramer feels certain that he is not wrong about MRVL which is acting like the other two companies since it has been a "real stinker" but reported "decent revenue and gave great guidance." He also thinks that estimates are too low for MRVL: "When you set the bar low, it becomes easy for the stock to jump." He recommends buying MRVL when it is at bottom, but would avoid SNE.Mad Mail: Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI - News), Jim Cramer Tattoos and Caremark (NYSE: CMX - News)When asked if Cramer expected BBI to exceed Cramer's $6 estimate, he answered that, given the rise of digital recorders, he doesn't think it will go from $4.75 to an amount exceeding $6. He told another mailer that getting a Jim Cramer tattoo would be a tad "aggressive." Finally, he suggested selling Caremark.Published By SeekingAlpha
