Jim Cramer's Stop Trading 11/18

"Retail's a different animal when things get bad," said Jim Cramer on Tuesday's "Stop Trading!" segment on CNBC. "When we get double-digit unemployment, everything goes."
He said the dollar stores, such as Family Dollar(FDO), are the only thing that might be safe. Not even Sears(SHLD), which he said is not over-leveraged and has a "really good" balance sheet, can avoid the fate of retailers such as Saks(SKS).

"Why should Sears be immune from this?" he said.

"Eddie's my friend," said Cramer, referring to Sears Chariman Eddie Lampert, but "he's got Home Depot(HD) going against him and Lowe's(LOW) going against him."

Addressing big oil, Cramer said that Exxon Mobil(XOM) is his tell. Cramer said that when oil was at $80 to $100, stocks such as Exxon "telegraphed a dramatic decrease in oil" to $60.

Exxon "predicted everything that happened, and it was six months ahead of everything," he said. "And that stock's done going down."

If Exxon was right before, Cramer said, it might be right again. Now he sees a bottom for oil in the $50s and a $2 bottom in gasoline. "You have to believe that oil might be bottoming, because that's what the stocks told you before," he said. He also mentioned that Anadarko (APC) "has moved up lately."

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap April 17

Adopting a Monster: Gannett (NYSE: GCI - News), Monster Worldwide (NasdaqGS: MNST)
Cramer thinks Gannett should buy MNST as a way to stay relevant since its business isn't "viable long-term anymore." He adds that MNST would be a nice accompaniment to GCI's acquisition, CareerBuilder.com, and the company should hurry to make an offer before Google makes the first move. In either case, the online job listing source is an attractive takeover target and Cramer is bullish on MNST which has has recently had a shortfall, is cheap, and has a new CEO, Sal Iannuzzi, who Cramer thinks is ready "to make a deal." Monster's inclusion in Goldman Sach's list of likely private equity plays is yet another reason to buy.
On the Sunny Side of The Street: First Solar (NasdaqGM: FSLR), MEMC Electronic Materials (NYSE: WFR - News)
Continuing his "Green Day" series, Cramer takes a look at solar energy stocks, and comments he is still 100% behind FSLR, which he recommended in early March and is "the most economically efficient solar company." He also likes WFR which has a "stronghold on silicon wafers, the key components to most solar panels" and is up 247% since October. Since both stocks have increased substantially, he would look for a drop before buying.
DEEP Thoughts: New IPO Superior Offshore International, with stocks Nabors (NYSE: NBR - News), Halliburton (NYSE: HAL - News)
Cramer would take a look at new IPO Superior Offhsore International which is due to go public Friday and will trade under the symbol DEEP. He notes the company has solid earnings and fundamentals and is reasonably priced between $14 to $16. This subsea construction company has competitors, HAL and NBR, but their success has proven that business is good. While DEEP is located mainly in the Gulf of Mexico, it is expanding beyond the region, repairs and maintains current drilling and has years of repair work on the agenda from Hurricane Katrina. Cramer would do homework before buying this "great company" with "real profits" and would make a move no later than Thursday morning.
CEO Interview: Saks (NYSE: SKS - News) CEO Stephen Sadove with stocks Coach (NYSE: COH - News) and Ralph Lauren (NYSE: RL - News)
When asked about the company's turnaround, Stephen Sadove replied that while it is still "early in the game," Saks has benefited from a "great team, clear strategies and clear focus on execution." The company was also successful in encouraging people to own equity and making stores more customer-friendly. Sadove also discussed Saks' new CFO Kevin Willis, calling him "a great asset to the team." Cramer said he is bullish on SKS as well as COH and RL, all of which are buying opportunities because the stocks have "flat-lined."

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Mar. 8

New Century (NYSE: NEW - News), NovaStar (NYSE: NFI - News) and Camden Property Trust (NYSE: CPT - News): Cramer says the "overdone" panic over sub-prime lending will have a lasting impact on only "one or two ne'er do wells." Although it is possible a major financial institution may take a hit from the NEW and NFI fiasco, he emphasized the "rush to capital from this sector," and predicts that all but the weakest will survive. On another note, Cramer is bearish on CPT because it has had a big run.
Saks (NYSE: SKS - News) and J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP - News): Cramer is bullish on SKS and JCP and believes in the consumer, although "no one on Wall Street has any faith." He also notes that "non-traditional providers of liquidity" have now gone into that sector, which is another reason to be bullish.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Review, Jan. 10th

Classy Saks (SKS) versus Wal-Mart (WMT)Cramer says that the retail surge is like finding a "diamond in the rough," and he especially likes Saks which is an "ultimate aspirational brand" with stores that have an aura that encourages people to spend. Cramer attributed Saks' turnaround to increased earnings and its "asset takeout story." Unlike Wal-Mart with its warehouse feel, Saks' strength is in its merchandising, which is "about perception -- not about statistics. The analysts don't get it," Cramer said. He likes Saks' margin expansion and growth, and although Saks has begun to turn around, Cramer says it isn't too late to jump on board. How Much is that PetSmart (PETM) in the Window?Cramer's second turnaround stock is the country's largest pet store. He is bullish on PETM, not only because Americans are crazy about their pets, but also because of PETM's fundamentals and its 17.5% long-term growth rate. Like Saks, PETM has growing margins and outstanding merchandizing, and Cramer feels that the company is undervalued. He adds that PETM is "primed to expand" without interference with rival Petco which was bought by a private-equity firm.Mad Mail: AT & T (T), Halliburton (HAL)When asked about AT & T, Cramer gave the stock two thumbs up. Moving on to HAL, Cramer called it the most "painful" stock he owns, and he doesn't see it moving this year, but by next year he expects HAL to rise or to be bought.
