Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Jan. 28th

InterContinental Exchange's price had risen dramatically since Cramer recommended the stock on "Mad Money," but has since returned to previous levels, Cramer said. Neither stock has responded favorably to today's news that the CME, which operates the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade, is in talks to buy ICE. "What is the ICE doing down?" Cramer asked.
Cramer also believes the economy is not headed for a recession. He named earnings calls from Honeywell (HON), Caterpillar (CAT), Parker Hannifin (PH) and others as signs of the market's health.
Cramer also noted that the KBW Bank Index and the PHLX Housing Sector Index are rallying because of the rate cuts.
In spite of the positive news, Cramer said he believes more action is needed. Given "the losses that we saw for the quarterlies from a Bank of America (BAC) or a Wachovia (WB) ... I genuinely feel that we are too close to the precipice to stop.
"That doesn't mean that a Honeywell isn't doing fine without it," Cramer cautioned. "It's like 1998, when the economy was booming. ... We had to stop the decline [in the financials] ."
Cramer believes the bank woes may remain independent of the broader economy. "The problems are not with IBM (IBM) or Verizon (VZ) ... AT&T (T ) ... Nokia (NOK) ... Microsoft (MSFT)."
Cramer added that the Federal Reserve's 75-basis-point rate cut last week was helpful. "You needed that cut to be able to raise all that money last week." However, the crisis isn't over. "Home price appreciation is nonexistent. ... We saw that number today. ... The oil futures are saying no recession. I think the Fed cuts are needed again."

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Dec. 18th

Today's quarterly report proved Goldman Sachs' (GS ) dominance over other financials, Jim Cramer said on CNBC's "Stop Trading!" segment Tuesday.
This was a great performance in a tough quarter, Cramer said. Goldman did exactly what a sector leader should do in hard times: "buy back stocks and appease all the critics," Cramer said. He believes the bank's shares will earn $30 next year.
Cramer is "reeling" from the fact that people sold off Goldman stock. "This is the worst quarter that I've ever seen and they still made a lot of money. ... Who else is buying stock? Everyone else is offering stock. ... They don't even need the Fed."
Meanwhile, Cramer believes Verizon (VZ) is the telecom to buy, because it's a safe stock that still shows growth. "It's gotten control of its own business," Cramer said, and what really excites him about the company is that "most of this business didn't exist four years ago. ... Who would have thought that kids would watch our programs ... on a handheld [device] ?"

Steve Leisman says that focus is being taken off the weak dollar and on to the weak economy. Future plans are in effect for the improvement of consumers concern with the state of the economy and risk of recession. Abu Dhabi has paid over $7 B (The biggest purchase of an American Company buy a foreign) to make part of CITI. Arabs are looking for financials, homebuilders and hotels. Anything from actual buildings to stock equity sharing on the financial sector side are up for grabs. Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York shows concern for a continuing opportunity for American investments. As a democrat, free trade is not a top priority for him, and he wants to avoid building walls in between Americans and business buy giving power to foreign investors. The Arabs say they have no interest in board or managerial roles, only to play as a passivist support group who believes in the potential of American companies. David Weber says MasterCard (MA) and Research in Motion (RIMM) are his picks for the day. Next, there was the real estate market. David Blitzer of Standard and Poor's says that prices are driving foreclosures, resulting in a 524,000 fewer jobs and $6.6 billion lost in taxes. Also that a mass amount of foreclosures are driving the prices of surrounding homes down. The worst hit is New York at a loss of over $10 B. You can keep updated by visiting; realtycheck.cnbc.com. Next, Russia will be electing a parliament on Sunday, Dec 2nd. Julian Mayo of U.S Global Investors Eastern Europe Fund says that increased certainty is acknowledged for the outcome, being in supporters of Vladmir Putin's favor. The Russian market is leading the world. Utilities and Telecomm are the top performers in Russia. An update for CITI Group says that the company has not closed off opportunities for foreign purchase and investment. Rick Santelli of CNBC says that apparently CITI is looking for more than $7.5 B. and a loss of ownership by more than 5%. David Faber of CNBC says that raising capital will be the main concern for financial institutions as a result of CITI's decisions. More write-downs to come for consumers, and more capital to be raised will likely come from Arab investors and foreign petroleum dollars. Jim Cramer with Stop Trading was next. American International Group (AIG), and JP Morgan (JPM) are among his choices for likely candidates for middle eastern investors. He says that more capital for the corporations should be a positive thing for consumers. Jim Goldman of CNBC says that Verizon (VZ) announced that they will promote unrestricted access. This makes Verizon a much stronger competitor in the future. With 64M wireless customers in the U.S, Verizon will cause even more problems for companies such as Sprint and Nextel.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Oct. 30th

Cramer began Tuesday's show by talking about investing opportunities in Brazil. Cramer believes that Brazil is a good place to invest because it will profit from lowered interest rates in the US and improving investment conditions. His top Brazil play is Banco Bradesco (BBD). Cramer had recommended this stock earlier this year, and then told people to switch into Banco Itau (ITU). Now he wants you to go back to Bradesco because it is cheaper and has better growth prospects.
Southern Copper (PCU): Cramer took a call asking if PCU would react to the falling dollar, and Cramer said not to worry about the US economy much when investing in Brazil. Next Cramer talked about an FCC ruling that is expected tomorrow which will eliminate agreements between cable companies and apartment owners. Cramer also thinks that Corning (GLW) will profit from the removal of these contracts, since Verizon (VZ) and AT&T (T) will move into apartments, and they will need to lay fiber to do so. Cramer also thinks that the company is too cheap considering its growth rate.
Noah Education (NED): This stock stumped Cramer yesterday, and since he thinks the Chinese education market is growing and he is bullish on the stock. He also mentioned that now is the chance to buy more dry bulk shipping stocks.
Cramer returned from the lightning round talking about a $64 per share bid that Kirk Kerkorian made for Tesoro (TSO). He thinks you can profit from some pin action from this offer by looking at other refiners. His recommendation is Marathon Oil (MRO), which would go up 18% if it was given the same valuation as Tesoro. Cramer thinks that refiners have bottomed, and that Marathon has given investors a good entry point, along with exposure to markets with better margins and the fact that they do some exploration as well.
Cramer then read an email thanking him for his stock picks and answered a question about merger arbitrage.
Sudden Death. Cramer is bearish on Palm (PALM) and Coach (COH), and he is bullish on Diana Shipping (DSX) along with other dry bulk shippers.

Thornburg Mortgage (NYSE: TMA - News), Washington Mutual (NYSE: WM - News), Lehman Brothers (NYSE: LEH - News), KB Home (NYSE: KBH - News), Beazer Homes USA (NYSE: BZH - News), Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG - News), Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO - News), and Colgate (NYSE: CL - News)
Cramer predicts around 7 million "teaser" mortgages are likely to be defaulted and recommends "staying defensive," by avoiding real estate and bank stocks such as TMA, WM, LEH, KBH and BZH and investing in soft goods such as PG, KO and CL. While the Fed thinks mortgage woes will pass, Cramer still believes the Fed should cut rates.
Schering-Plough (NYSE: SGP - News)
Cramer thinks SGP is an excellent stock for the current environment and notes sales are up 13% since last year. He adds the company is not leveged to mortgaes and he believes in Fred Hassan, who was one of Cramer's transformational CEOs. He would wait until buying SGP, and while the current economic climate is not good, "we have no control on what the Fed will do," Cramer said.
Vodafone (NYSE: VOD - News),Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ - News)
VOD is a good international play and the world's best wireless carrier. Cramer thinks VOD will raise more revenues than the competition, owns a "serious chunk" of VZ, is successful in emerging economies and has a strong dividend.
CEO Interview: Jack Cumming, Hologic (NasdaqGS: HOLX - News) with Cytyc (NasdaqGS: CYTC - News)
Jack Cumming talked about the upcoming merger with CYTC, which will mean $400 million to $50o million in EBITDA and nine top women's health products. Cumming added the company can afford the acquisition and there is no financial risk.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap Aug. 2nd

Dow but not Out: JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM - News), General Motors (NYSE: GM - News), Citigroup (NYSE: C - News), AIG (NYSE: AIG - News), Honeywell (NYSE: HON - News), DuPont (NYSE: DD - News) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ - News), AT&T (NYSE: T - News), Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News), Pfizer (NYSE: PFE - News) and Merck (NYSE: MRK - News)
After its mid-week drop, the Dow's rally on Thursday inspired Cramer to express confidence in the market and to repeat his prediction that the Dow will reach 14, 548 by the end of the year. He notes only four Dow stocks, JPM, GM, C and AIG are levered to current problems and only JPM and C are directly connected to mortgages. However, he commented HON, DD and HPQ have "beautiful" balance sheets and T, VZ, PFE and MRK will be able to survive the current market. Because of the strength of these stocks, the Dow wasn't crushed yesterday like it was "supposed to be," Cramer said.
The Windy City Merger: CME Group (NYSE: CME - News)
A good way to profit from the vicissitudes of the current market is to invest in CME, which Cramer recommends following its acquisition of the Chicago Board of Trade. Cramer likes the merger so much he thinks the Justice Department should never have allowed it to happen, since CME now has its "hands into everything" and can charge whatever it wants. While CME is trading at 30 x earnings, it is growing at a 20% clip this year, and its growth rate should reach 30% in 2008.
Sell Block: Buffalo Wild Wings (NasdaqGS: BWLD - News), General Cable (NYSE: BGC - News), Mastercard (NYSE: MA - News)
Since BWLD, BGC and MA got crushed after reporting better-than-expected quarters, Cramer explained "why bad things happen to good stocks." First, since all three had been rising rapidly, the bar was raised and "better-than-expected" just wasn't good enough for The Street. Second, there was a "hair" on each quarter, which is Wall Street jargon for a small flaw, or "hair" on a better-than-expected number. It was alleged that MA experienced domestic slowing, BWLD had slightly lower same-store sales and BGC had a downbeat outlook. However, Cramer said the main trick is knowing when to get rid of stock; "You can't count on me to tell you when to sell," he warned listeners, adding he can't always call a top. He said it is safe to sell the stocks now, since they are still high.
CEO Interview: Gregory Milzcik Barnes Group (NYSE: B - News)
Gregory Milzcik says his company is in the "sweet spot" of the current cycle; "We focus on difficult-to-manufacture parts but are also positioned great on high-volume, high-growth platforms, like that of the 787." He adds analysts are not really disappointed with the company, but want to see sales and margin growth, which Barnes Group can deliver. The company has expanded into Europe's "booming" market. Cramer commented; "Let the downgrades come, and then I would buy some. This stock's just way too cheap when it gets down to $20."

Stocks Rise As Credit Worries Continue

Wall Street found a foothold Monday as investors, still anxious that a credit crunch could crimp U.S. growth, took advantage of low prices after last week's steep losses. The Dow Jones industrial average briefly surged 100 points.
Some strong earnings reports and merger-and-acquisition activity boosted the stock market, which is coming off the Dow's and the Standard & Poor's 500 index's biggest weekly drops in five years. The Dow is down about 4.5 percent from its July 19 record close of 14,000.41, having caved under worries about a shakier lending climate.
In a sign that dealmaking hasn't yet been stanched by aversion to debt, industrial equipment manufacturer Ingersoll-Rand said it's selling its Bobcat earth-moving division and two other units to Korea's Doosan Infracore for $4.9 billion.
And despite rising defaults and delinquencies in mortgage lending, HSBC Holdings PLC, Europe's largest bank by market value, posted a 25 percent rise in first-half earnings. Also, General Motors Corp.'s GMAC Financial Services said second-quarter profit declined but that it expects its residential lending business to improve in the second half of the year.
The market initially wavered between positive and negative territory Monday, but then drove higher in afternoon trading as investors re-entered the market to scoop up bargains.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap June 7th

A Reliab-Oil Stock: XTO Energy (NYSE: XTO - News)
Cramer says he has finally found the "perfect" oil company which takes advantage of high oil prices by exploiting new properties rather than just buying back stock. XTO has risen 14% since Cramer recommended it in March, and with its recent acquisition of Dominion Resources, it should see double-digit growth for four or five years, according to Cramer.
Interview with Duncan Niederauer, president and co-COO of NYSE Euronext (NYSE: NYX - News)
Cramer's growth stock for 2007, NYX, is down 15%, but he is not backing away. While Euronext is growing rapidly, Cramer admits NYX is turning into the "worst performing" stock he's seen. Duncan Niederauer commented NYX is the only multi-product exchange; "It's still a wonderfully scaleable business, and a lot of the market doesn't know how to evaluate us because we're not quite as attractive as the derivative-only exchanges," he told Cramer. However, he added that NYX is still more attractive than the equity-only exchanges. Concerning derivatives, Niederauer said, "The U.S. futures market is still a hole in our global footprint .... The only way in is an acquisition." Cramer commented on how rapidly NYX drops, and Niederauer conceded NYX "trades in a very choppy way for a large-cap company." Although he can't predict when NYX will start moving up, Cramer says he is sticking with NYX.
Sell Block: Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC - News), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ - News), Guess? (NYSE: GES - News), Monster Worldwide (NasdaqGS: MNST - News)
While Cramer's predictions of NSC 's and JNJ 's declines were fulfilled, and GES jumped as he expected, Cramer admitted he missed "the big one" of the week, namely, the selloff and vitality in the bond market. The lesson from this error is "You ignore what the big institutional investors are doing at your own peril," Cramer said, and added investors should not overlook the bond market. Cramer is still hopeful that MNST will win a bid and believes the new CFO,Timothy Yates, will make moves toward selling the company.
Mad Mail: Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT - News), Target (NYSE: TGT - News), Lowes (NYSE: LOW - News), Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News)
Cramer says WMT's risk reward is superior to TGT's, which should be sold because it has increased substantially. Since WMT is not currently buildng new stores, the company can buy back stock and revamp its existing stores. Cramer adds he also likes LOW. He told another viewer Verizon has a solid yield and increasing growth. Concerning what action to take in the decline, Cramer coached his viewers; "Let it come in -- let the market open down ... If it opens up, do some selling. Don't do any buying. I'll tell you when I think it's overdone."

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap June 5th

CEO Interview: Ivan Seidenberg, Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News), AT&T (NYSE: T - News)
Although everyone is talking about Apple's iPhone , Cramer says Verizon's CEO Ivan Seidenberg is "money," and predicts VZ will be able to hold its own against rival AT & T amid iPhone hype. Seidenberg commented Verizon has "the most advanced network" and a full range of new products, including handsets for music downloads and mobile TV products. After the buzz surrounding the iPhone dies down, customers will want "flexibility and breadth of choice," added Seidenberg. He said the company is concentrating on getting its stock up, and has seen substantial success in its wireless and fiber optic units. When Cramer asked if VZ would buy a TV network, Seidenberg responded he would "never say never" but added the company doesn't need to make such a purchase.
Idyllic Drugs: Acadia Pharmaceuticals (NasdaqGM: ACAD - News)
Cramer says it is time to buy this speculative drug stock, which is coming out with two drugs for schizophrenia and one for Parkinson's. While Cramer does not recommend buying ACAD on strength of its products but on the data that will come out, he adds, "If any of these drugs pan out, you have struck gold." He would invest in the company before its drugs are approved. One schizophrenia drug's Phase II results should bring the stock higher, success for the Parkinson's drug will make it a $709-million-a-year drug, and Acadia's ACP-104 is perhaps the strongest. "It's bottoming now in anticipation of the forthcoming data. I want you in for the ride up. This is a trade, not an investment," Cramer advised.
A Real Steel: Barnes Group (NYSE: B - News)
Cramer says this metals company is a "steal" and should benefit from the aerospace sector which is "running hot" and trucking, which is healthy, based on Cummins numbers. While Cramer admits he missed the company's bottom, this "under the radar" stock should have more upside as it attracts attention and more coverage from analysts.

Jim Cramer's Mad Money Stock Recap May 25

More Dow Picks: Pfizer (NYSE: PFE - News), Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG - News), United Technologies (NYSE: UTX - News), Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News), Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT - News), Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS - News)
Cramer says PFE is "stuck" and owning the stock is a bit like owning a bond with a tad more upside. He admits he was too bullish on PG when he predicted it could go to $67 on the weak dollar and organic growth. However, Cramer says he wasn't bullish enough on UTX which is doing well internationally and is in "hyper-drive." He predicts UTX is headed to $73. Cramer also admits he underestimated VZ's fiberoptics and its wireless, and he would buy it for its yield and growth in spite of its 14% rise. WMT should go to $52 but not higher, predicts Cramer, as long as CEO Lee Scott is in charge. While he likes DIS, he thinks its parks will be casualty to gas prices and the success of its Pirates of the Caribbean film is priced into the stock.
Call Me Darling (AMEX: DAR - News)
Cramer says Darling is "as speculative as it gets" with one business that transforms animal fats into oil and a restaurant business. DAR is "en fuego," but Cramer would wait for a big selloff before buying. After that, DAR needs more analysts covering it before it tops off, and Cramer predicts the stock will go "through the roof" when it moves into the renewable energy sector. Like Tyson, DAR could go into biodiesel, but it will get pummeled first, and when it does, Cramer would buy.
Game Plan for the Coming Week: Polo Ralph Lauren (NYSE: RL - News), Costco (NasdaqGS: COST - News), Sears (NasdaqGS: SHLD - News)
Cramer would stay away with tech, and would move into retail. He recalled RL got "creamed" after its last quarter, which was excellent, but which led to a selloff because of a negative perception about the company's guidance. Therefore, Cramer would buy half a position before RL reports and half after. While he praises COST as a "delivery machine" he believes the company will continue to be misunderstood, and would buy after its earnings report. Cramer suggests pickkng up SHLD if it gets pummeled, and if not, to wait for the next drop in the stock.
CEO Interview: Catherine Burzik, Kinetic Concepts (NYSE: KCI - News)
Catherine Burzik wanted to reassure viewers that KCI will not be hurt by competition from Smith & Nephew after its BlueSky Medical acquisition. "I'm not sure the analysts and the Street understand the market we are in here," she said. "This is a really large market ... and it is significantly unpenetrated. There's a really large opportunity." Burzik added that since Americans are getting "fatter by the day," there will be a great demand for KCI's therapeutic services. Cramer gives the company a triple buy.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading May 18

Microsoft (NasdaqGS: MSFT), aQuantive (NasdaqGS: AQNT), Yahoo (NasdaqGS: YHOO): Cramer calls MSFT's bid to buy AQNT at $6 billion a "game changer," and he doesn't see any reason why it wouldn't also buy YHOO for $50 billion. The bid may usher in the beginning of a "land grab against Google." While Cramer wouldn't buy a down company solely because of a potential takeover, he notes YHOO has great traffic and thinks the stock could reach $34 immediately if CEO Terry Semel takes a "permanent vacation."
Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News), Dicks Sporting Goods, (NYSE: DKS - News), UnderArmour (NYSE: UA - News): Cramer wished a good weekend to the Citigroup analyst who upgraded VZ, but added he is "late," and the good news at the company is not new. Cramer predicts DKS' conference call will indicate a comeback for UA which is "done going down."
Baker Hughes (NYSE: BHI - News), Canetic Resources Trust (NYSE: CNE - News), Nabors (NYSE: NBR - News), Halliburton (NYSE: HAL - News), Grant Pridecos (NYSE: GRP - News), Grey Wolf (AMEX: GW - News): On BHI's report of rising rig counts, Cramer sees a growth in natural gas drilling which had been "written off," and he would take a look at CNE, NBR, HAL, GRP and even GW.

Jim Cramer's Stop Trading Mar. 23

Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News), Vonage (NYSE: VG - News): Cramer wanted to talk about "what a bunch of hucksters" the executives at Vonage are concerning the injunction in a patent case with Verizon which brought the stock down 23%. "Everyone thought that VG should be sitting down with Verizon and talking," commented Cramer who thought it was an outrage the VG did just the opposite; "Swap out of VG into anything!"
Clorox (NYSE: CLX - News), ConAgra Foods (NYSE: CAG - News), Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP - News), Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC - News), CSX Corp (NYSE: CSX - News): Noting that CLX and CAG have new management, Cramer added that they could be broken up as well as rail companies such as UNP "the largest land owner in America," NSC and CSX which also have hidden assets। He adds that all of the rails are pro-shareholder.
